STATKRAFT AND AQUILA CLEAN ENERGY SIGN A PPA FOR A NEW SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT IN SEVILLE

| ACE Website

MADRID - Statkraft, Europe's largest renewable energy producer and a market leader in power purchase agreements (PPAs), and Aquila Clean Energy, a company that develops and operates clean energy assets with a focus on solar and wind, have signed a new seven-year PPA.

Under this agreement, Statkraft will count with the renewable energy from the 50 MW Guillena solar photovoltaic plant in Seville, which will be commissioned in mid-2023. The energy generated at this plant will be equivalent to the annual energy consumption of around 25,900 Spanish households and will save around 25,500 tonnes in CO2 emissions (estimate for 2022).

This project is part of the portfolio of around 3 GW that Aquila Clean Energy manages in Spain, with projects under development, construction and operation in various parts of the country. Andalucia is a key strategic region for the company, which already has five operating plants and 30 projects under development in Seville, Málaga, Córdoba, Cádiz, Granada, Jaén and Almería.

With this new agreement, Statkraft´s renewable portfolio to supply its customers in Spain and Portugal now reaches 1.3 gigawatts, one of the largest in the Iberian market. It includes the production of wind and solar assets across parts of the country.

Marcos Domínguez, Aquila Clean Energy's Power Markets Director for Iberia, says: "Every new PPA is another step towards achieving Spain's energy transition and a more sustainable future through the generation of more affordable clean energy for consumers. We are very pleased to be working again with Statkraft, with which we are wholly aligned in these objectives. We have now signed numerous PPAs with Statkraft in Spain and the rest of Europe and we look forward to continuing our collaboration in the future. PPAs are a fundamentally useful tool for managing market risk, especially in these times of high price volatility and uncertainty”.

Simon Kornek, Statkraft's Vice President of Origination for Southern Europe, comments: “Agreements like the one reached with Aquila Clean Energy demonstrate the key role of PPAs in driving the energy transition, ensuring that projects such as the Guillena PV plant can succeed, by reducing risks and gaining stability and predictability in their revenues. We are very pleased to be once again collaborate with fellow travellers like Aquila Clean Energy."
