| News

The facilities obtained prior administrative authorisation and will involve an investment of 1.8 billion euros

  • The authorisations obtained by Aquila Clean Energy promote more than 30 plants in Andalusia, Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha and Cantabria with an investment of 1.8 billion euros.
  • The projects will generate 6,000 jobs and the clean energy will supply almost one million households, avoiding the emission of 816,000 tonnes of CO2.

June 14th 2023 - Aquila Clean Energy, a developer and operator of renewable energy projects with a focus on solar and wind power, continues to make progress in the authorisation of its renewable energy projects in Andalusia, Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha and Cantabria.

Following the resolution of the environmental impact statements (EIS) last January, in April the company obtained prior administrative authorisations (AAP) for more than 1.7 GW of solar photovoltaic production, distributed in different autonomous communities, allowing the projects to progress towards their operation.

All the plants that have received authorisation will produce enough clean energy to supply more than 1.5 million homes, while avoiding the emission of more than one million tonnes of CO2 per year. In addition, during construction, they will generate around 8,500 jobs.

"As a company, it is very gratifying to see how our portfolio is gradually materialising and how we are advancing towards our goal of driving the country's energy transition," explains Jorge de Miguel, Head of Development and Construction for Aquila Clean Energy in Spain.

The sum of all the facilities that Aquila Clean Energy is developing in Spain will exceed 3 GW of renewable power installed in our country in the next five years.
